I've a very supportive dear friend in Detroit who's sobriety journey inspires me to actively seek out quality nonalcoholic beverages. My Twin, as I affectionately call my birthdate-sharing buddy, has kept up with my efforts in this hobby-turned-career avenue with interest and necessary distance. It's a delicate challenge but it's kept me on my toes to find options for their enjoyment.
It Ain't For Err'body and Every Body
It's no secret that there's a major push for less alcohol consumption these days. There's science, personal preference, and religious aspects interwoven for many; and, I'm not one to push for, or against, its consumption. I'm aware of the risks and still have a bold passion for all this. Two things can exist at once, especially something as multifaceted as wine.
That's why I've been trying various mocktails for several months. Some are pretty solid while others are awful to my tastebuds (and I'm going to tell it soon enough here). For now, I'm getting excited about Hurley Farms out in Napa Valley and their selection of shrubs.
A Shrub? Isn't that a small plant?
Same name but totally different meanings! If you're unfamiliar with Tasting History with Max Miller, then you're in for a treat. The YouTube channel is so loved in my household that even our dogs watch him to calm their nerves! Here's his breakdown of drinking vinegar with an old recipe, to boot.
Let's Do This!
To show my commitment to this audience, at least one blog post a month will exclusively focus on mocktails, wines, or beers that are made with nonalcoholic consumers in mind. There's no need to alienate a demographic while prioritizing content here, so I won't.
